Since you dont have visa stamped on passport, H1B approval copy notarized would help. You should be fine entering both addresses and I have seen both addresses on my Passport on renewal.
vrbest and Saro,
Thanks for the information. In online application, there is a column for address to be printed in passport. There is a column for other address. I am planning to give India permanent address in the first column. Hopefully they will put that into the passport. Passport is the only address proof for me in India.
My L1 visa is expired on October, 2008. My company moved me to H1 and i am yet to go for stamping on H1.

My friend was in same situation couple of yrs ago and doctor advised not to take immunization as this will affect the pregnancy (baby). so the INS doctor mentioned this in medical form and she did the immunization after delivering baby (almost 2 yrs after filing I-485). so this is not a issue, before your I-485 approval USCIS they will send the query to put vaccination and at that time you can show that you did by showing proof of vaccination.
Hi,
At last, our priority dates are current.
Now, we have to go and submit Medical Examination Results.
My Wife is pregnant and I was told by my friends that it is not a good idea to get her immunized (vaccines) now. She might probably have taken most of them back in INDIA.
Is there a way we can apply for I-485 and get EID's without her immunization record? (I will have mine). I am sure there are others who are in the same boat.
Please advice.

I have a question,
Could you please provide how to get in touch with these political people and how to get their time and explain them? Do we get an appointment?
Also draft of letters to provide them as a refrence?
An Agenda when we visit them?
If you could please provide these guidelines, we will know what all needs to be done and anybody interested would do it.
Please visit Senate.gov to find your Senator and House.gov to find your house rep by ZIP code.
Then you can call them up and fix an appointment with their immigration representative. Generally they may have a date only 2-3 weeks later.
Once you have got a confirmed sate, please contact user StarSun, who will provide you with material and information on what to discuss with the law maker.
I tried calling and setting up appointment with our local senator and congressman hack even their associates. I was told that they have too much on their schedule to meet with me. I guess:
No vote = No Value...
Could you let us know which district this was for both? There is a chance a few law makers out of 500+ may not be sympathetic to our cause. In some cases we could change that, but this is the reason everyone else needs to keep trying with other senators and congressmen.
A modest suggestion:
Talk to lawmakers about the redundancy of the Labour Certification and the Quota processes. Explain it this way. An employer needs someone for a job. They advertise the job, and find no qualified Americans for the job. They get the Secretary of Labour to certify that there are no Americans for the job (BTW, that's what a "Labour Certificate" is...it the US Department of Labour certifying there are no Americans qualified to do your job!).
Then that company, who has a need for an employee, needs to wait up to 10 years to hire someone permanently for that job (that's the Visa Number quota system). This is horrible for business productivity.
Yes thats a good point that labor certification seems a bit redundant after the H1 process.Increase or elimination of country quota and a points/skill based system are also one of the longer term priorities of IV. Some of these may fit more into a comprehensive model as the changes would be large. For piecemeal recapture is a simpler option.
IV has a predetermined set of suggestions to improve skill based immigration, including most of the above, which would benefit all immigrants. Will post a link shortly.

Having spoken with several congressional aids I can say that such issues are well received. The specific issue that I have raised (it does not affect me) is examples of people leaving USA and having to explain to their US born children why mummy and daddy are not welcome in the USA, and thus why they have to grow up in a foreign country.
I have also given examples of one sibling being born in USA and other aging out.
However, I have only raised this where law makers are known to be sympathetic to family immigration, e.g. support DREAM.
I think that the best we can do is:
Get wait times down (and reduce impact of this).
Use this as an argument with those who support family based immigration (and may even be hostile to EB otherwise).
If we have an opportunity to address this as part of other EB legislation we can.
It is certainly not forgotten by me.
I do think that it would be helpful to have a list of people in IV with this problem (with ages of all children plus relevant dates). For the moment I'm too busy to organize this (busy with IV work -- like 4am bed times).
More active help (not just forum discussion) with IV is always welcome, so you are welcome to step up and help (e.g. compiling a list of such members etc.). Politics is personal so being able to present personal cases is helpful.
Hi Mark
It would be helpful if you could list/post any congressmen or senators you have found to sympathize so we can contact them and give us any pointers in anyway

Hi,
I am considering transferring my visa from H1B to H4. If in future I need to transfer my visa back to H1B, would I be in the 65000 quota even if I travel to India or outside US after transferring to H4?
Your thoughts and replies will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

No approvals today or what?
I had to search to find this thread.
What is going on?
The slowness in the approval rate has me a little worried. In July many people got approved at within the first few days - that does not seem to have happened for the first 3 days of August so far. I'm hoping that this is just a blip and the trend picks up shortly.

yeah but thats not the kind of training NIIT would provide you (Assembly level stuff, parallel programming concepts etc). Such training institutes teach you programming, what mundada was talking about is software engineering.
I stand corrected. I misunderstood his statement. I thought he was referring to a non-US degree. Yes, I agree, a sound theoretical foundation goes a long way.

No offense, but, I would continue or increase my contribution, not because someone else is doing so or not doing so, or not if I would I get a tax break or not, but just because of my sheer appreciation of the IV core group's amazing efforts.
I have not (in the recent past) seen such a group of dedicated, decent and diginified people working together in a selfless manner to achieve something not only for their own good but for the good of hundreds and thousands of their fellow "sometimes not so polite, not so patient" sufferers.
I see my contribution to IV something similar to a contribution to a church or a temple. You give, not so that you'll benefit out of it, but because at the end of the day it is money well spent for a good cause.
If you benefit out of the efforts possible by your contribution, that's a nice bonus.
I don't look at my contribution as "I pay $20 I should get $100 in return".
For me, it is not an investment, but a good expenditure for worthy cause.
Thank you so much for saying this. Worthy cause-yes- is it not our cause!?
guys, come on you are all members here, because you want relief from retrogression. It is your cause.

The online status that we see currently on USCIS website can be improved to a great extent. $$$ spent to improve the system will be recouped in few years with savings elsewhere.
Current status: The two primary ways the USCIS connects with its customers are USCIS online case status and monthly processing time update. They both are expense free unlike a CS agent that handles the call and needs to be paid. But those two primary methods are a butt of all jokes and useless in its current form.
Objective: Improve the quality of USCIS online status by integrating it with monthly processing time update. Any case which is beyond processing time frame should get atleast one qualitative and progressive update every month. Institute a system to track the lifecycle of a case. The lifecycle starts from entry of a petition/application into USCIS system and ends with either approval/denial.
Pros:
1> provides a great deal of transparency to the system. Due to the improved transparency, efficiency becomes a part of the process.
2> Reduce the traffic in USCIS phone lines thereby reliving $$$ from customer service.
3> Reduce Infopass appointments thereby relieving maintenance $$$ from that system.
Officers who deal with Infopass can spend their time productively.
4> Reduce SR. Saves Immigrants $$$ and relieves USCIS resources who are handling SR request.
5> This improvement is not temporary and will keep yielding rewards as long as the USCIS is in the business of receiving/processing/adjudicating immigration petitions.
Cons:
1> USCIS needs to shell out a good $$$$ to tighten up their IT system, gather info from systems, integrate the online reporting tool with their monthly processing time update.

Dear Elaine Chao,
As a responsible member of Governance of the Department of Labor, could you please explain to the hard working employees who pay Social Security and Taxes and exist legally in the country, why the Department is not processing their applications for Labor Certifications and Petitions for Legal immigrant status expeditiously?
You are responsible to ensure that these applications are dealt with expeditiously and decisions communicated urgently. Current delays and backlogs indicate irresponsibility and lack of administrative acument on the part of the Department. A search online on the internet will be an enriching and educative experience for you and your Department on the efficiencies of your Department and employees.
You are requested to kindly implement processes and policies that ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in dealing with applications. I, like hundreds of others are unable to understand the delay in adjudicating an application with bonafide requests. Audits requests are perfectly understandable. So is the requirement for responses within 30 days. However, what is in comprehensible is the inordinate delay in review of the requested documents and communicating the decision.
I am hoping this Department will take notice and move towards the path of efficiencies soon. It is unfathomable that a Department of your importance is unable to handle requests of a few hundred applications each month. We have heard of US losing the COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE. This is just another example of the same. Lack of concern, skills, efficiency and mental wherewithal to conduct normal order of business efficiently.
I am looking forward to you taking the gauntlet and prove it wrong and process all backlogs expeditiously.
Help us take this country of immigrants to its old glory. Help us turn this economy back into the highs. Help us bring America to the edge of Technological Advances, Innovative and breakthrough products, never before seen R&D efforts.
Kind Regards,
PERM applicant with Audit response sent within 30 days and waiting for DOL to review the same since over 9 months and others!!!!

A little over a week for me. eFile is the best option so-far. Self-reliance is far more preferable than having it done by others.

Sorry for ignorance. How is this list usefull? We will know who are the lucky ones to be greend. But how does it help?

Did you apply for your 485? Your profile does not show that it has.
The date on which your 485 is filed is the order on which the applications are processed.
your PD is only used to say whether an application is eligible for processing. Once it is eligible, it is the 485 application date that states your position in the queue.
If this is true then my wait will be longer:(

Everyone knows that IV had requested its members to booked their ticket for 13th of Sept. Later on we have to change it to 18TH of Sept.
There are number of members who have booked their ticket for 13th of Sept. and then later have paid some fees to change it to 18th of Sept. We would like to tell each and every member of IV that IV have not reimburse anyone any fee difference that airlines have charged them. We did receive the initial request but later on they all changed their mind and said that we would not like IV to reimburse the difference that airlines have charged. WOW
Cheers to everyone who decided not to ask IV to reimburse the fee difference that they paid to Airline companies.
