I'm an Apple fan, but the truth has to be told: a) 3.5" is TOO small to be practical. I have a Motorola DEFY with a 3.7" display, and even then, the on screen keyboard is not large enough in portrait mode, at least 4 to 4.3" is vital. A larger display is also easier on the eyes when reading lengthy texts. b) Lack of camera shutter release is a major and idiotic decision. You cannot take self portraits, further it is not possible to simply pick up the phone (as you can with some Android and even WP7 handsets) and press the camera button to fire up the camera and shoot away without needing to hit an icon on the 'desktop' first. c) Lack of standard MicroUSB port means having to rely on Apple cabling - forget the cable and you're hosed if no one else has one. d) Call quality is not good enough for serious use due to the design flaws. Yes, it may be a superb gaming and multimedia phone, but I know many people with iPhones and have owned a 3GS, and when talking to them, the call quality is not as good as other brands, further, they lose signal more easily. (Here in the UK.) e) Reliance on iTunes is another hindrance. You feel chained to your main computer. With an Android phone, you are liberated.
Again, I'm an Apple fan, I have an iPad and desktop Macs, but the design flaws in all iPhone models have made that platform too much of a liability.
Let's hope iPhone 5 features ThunderBolt, a larger display, a dedicated camera shutter release and that iOS 5 removes iTunes from the equation.
Consumers are getting savvy thanks to the enlightenment (and lower cost) that Android delivers. Google are keeping Apple in check, and that's good for us consumers!

Which is kind of hard on such a restricted and limited platform. There would be more useful software for the iPad if it ran a 'real' operating system like Mac OS X -- meaning full file system access and not being tied into ONE App Store with arbitrary rules for what a program is allowed to do.

I think some decent smart minds need to sit together, and work out this whole patent problem thing... It's getting ridiculous. They should just open it up to everybody. F$&# it, may the best company win then.

Having trouble computing what exactly is "overdone" about the UI of this app. It is simple, clean and well organized.
If you so desire, help a brother out and explain what is "overdone" about the UI?

Tweetie 2 is beautiful, but not having push notifications is pathetic. Whats even more pathetic is his excuse that "its borderline impossible to do it reliably". Thats funny, because I have SimplyTweet & Echofon Pro and they both push great!

For this upcoming Mother's Day I'd like to present her with a family photo, but overloaded with silly effects. Think clown nose, devil horns, and moustaches.
Does anybody know of a good, free (or demo) app that can do this? I don't necessarily need those specific effects. Sorry for the short notice.

This is awesome. So far, my reason for not buying into the iPad hype is because I can't use photoshop on the iPad - nor many other productivity applications. This changes things a bit� hope it'll come out soon!

SMS and MSN and other text-based messaging have changed my life and the lives of deaf people around the world. Before, telcoms was a closed world to me, now I'm never without my O2 XDA mini :)
It isn't just Paris Hilton who carries a sidekick, millions of USA deaf people do, and I'm willing to bet us deaf form a significant proportion of sales of mobiles-with-qwerty-keyboards around the world.
Bring it on Apple, I'm sick of using Windows Mobile on my otherwise awesomely excellent HTC hardware.
