This is not surprising. All the Chinese resellers who were buying iPads in NYC are unlikely to buy the Verizon CDMA, because it cannot be used abroad. The GSM version (i.e. the ATT version) is one that can be used in most places abroad, as long as the iPad is unlocked.
Wrong, China has CDMA. Same CDMA we have. (they also have another proprietary form of CDMA as well)
However, the scalpers I've seen don't seem to be sending them to China.

Was 129.9 at Sainsburys, Hempstead (Kent, UK) until Thursday, went up to 130.9. Cobham Esso (on the M2 motorway) always used to be 1p cheaper but has now gone up to 133.9 (141.9 for diesel - ouch!) BUT:
Farthing Corner Services (BP) just after j4 on the M2, Kent - 138.9 for petrol, 145.9 for diesel!

Or just, uh.... not smart?
Trying to kill planned parenthood = less birth control available = more abortions.
That's just common sense. I know they're all about abstinence being the best option but come on!
It's not the only option. Jees.
How dumb can a party/movement be? Are they just refusing to think more than the one superficially thin layer of preventing Planned Parenthood providing abortions? Is that what they think PP just does?
I'm so confused.

Put my pre-order in at Game last night and traded in my Elite & 4 games I'll never be playing again. Plus a Dual Shock 3 controller I was going to replace with the Power A xbox-esque PS3 controller. I was very surprised to see the UK price is 199... which potentially makes it the cheapest price worldwide?

Its quite simple
-A 15" version
-with larger battery capacity (5 hours heavy usage instead of 3)
-2 USB 3.0 ports
-and a built in 4G internet connection.
Then the MBA would be unbeatable.

i really wonder: why not "made in america" or "made in europe"?
They do (or at least certainly did three years ago, and I think still) make a lot of macs in Ireland. Macs made there have serial numbers which start CK. Apple were one of the top two employers there last time I heard (can't remember if they or Guinness were the biggest).

this tech would have worked great in a powerbook G5......
I know really. I could see the tagline now:
The new PowerBook G5. Power cords are a thing of the past.
Yea, kinda cheesy, but you get the idea. :)

Not that I don't think this rumor is unfounded, but I could imagine a really tiny iPhone nano using the screen, CPU, and OS of the new iPod nano (i.e., no web, camera or apps), especially if it was cheap even with no contract and you could transfer the SIM card from your iPhone and use it as an alternate phone for sports or for girls going out etc. Text entry would be cumbersome, but if you could edit your address book from a PC when syncing, it wouldn't matter as much.
If the iPod Nano is $149 now, perhaps in a year the same parts plus a cell radio could be sold for $149 with no contract, or really cheap ($49 or less) with a contract. I could imagine at that price, parents could buy it for their kids, but due to the limitations it wouldn't cannibalize iPhone sales. It also might serve as a way to enter emerging markets.

All right, let me rephrase that: government funds plenty of things, like libraries and parks, that aren't "necessary" but wanted. If you want to keep the argument on the federal level, substitute your own examples, including national parks. (Remember Bush trying to push them towards privatization?)
If you have a balanced budget, and you suddenly unbalance it with tax cuts, the difference between revenue loss and spending is pretty much a matter of semantics. You had the money, and now you don't. At least when you spend it on a service, you expect to get something for it.
Maybe one of the problems with House Republicans is that they don't think of tax cuts that they can't afford as spending.

I installed Windows 7 with Bootcamp.
Except for the initial installation steps, with reboots, Windows 7 does not shut down completely. I see the "Shutting down ...: message. Not sure if it will eventually shutdown or if there is a problem. If the latter, what's the fix?
Other than this, Windows 7 seems to be working okay.

Nice thought by TimeWarner. However, the stations that people want to watch weren't on the first run of the app and now they have removed any remaining ones that were interesting.
This app will go nowhere. And TimeWarner certainly isn't innocent in this little battle. They love to put the stations on the bad guy side of the ledger. As a customer, I'm not drinking their koolaid.

The AT&T / Verizon numbers can't be right. With all of the scalpers buying AT&T models and constantly being sold out in stores there is no way more Verizon models sold!

Seems a bit early to have a finished iPT 5 hanging around. It's not on market for 6 months.
That's because it is capacitive, meaning it is a surface that senses the ouch, not an actual button.
Thanks for that explanation. I was curious about the term and how it was used.
I always question the sanity of people who claim to question other peoples sanity of ridiculous things.
I question everything and people say I am insane.

They're too big to go into a pocket..., they can't be shared around like books, they'll need recharging if they're used heavily. The ipad is a lot of things, sure, but there's lots of things it isn't, too.
Can't fit in a pocket... that's an advantage for schools like the middle school I help, because they can't "walk off" with a student. We currently use carts with Mac laptops. They charge up while in the cart, then get handed out to students for a group project. If they were iPads they would take less space in a crowded classroom and boot up faster. I hope they would be as durable. They don't need to be shared like books. Each student would have one, but if two students had to share one it would be big enough for that too. And we'd save money over replacing the laptops with newer laptops as they age.
First-issue iPads would be fine for group projects that involve access to websites (without Flash) and word processing, but with suitable new applications I hope clever teachers would be able to find even more useful educational activities for their students. And I know the students would be enthusiastic about using them.
When we first started replacing chalkboards with digital whiteboards, some people thought it was a solution looking for a problem, but soon teachers found how to use the new potential to do much more than they could with an old-fashioned board. Despite the doubts of some posters above, I think schools like ours will have good uses for iPads (or their marketplace competitors) as educators experiment and innovate.

Does anybody else beside me think the launch titles suck?
I was gonna pre-order the 3DS but I don't like any of the games. I'd be buying some random game just to try out a $250 piece of hardware.
Yes... They do.
If it wasn't for the fact that the store is offering a trade up policy for my dsi xl for €110 as opposed to €260 then I would not be getting one at this time.
But with the reduction in price / trade up for me it makes better sense to get one now whilst this offer is open than wait 6 mnths for more games and have to pay full price for the 3ds hardware.
