I was also in limbo whether to apply AP now or no. My current AP is valid till Mid Jan 2009 And I am travelling india in Oct and will be back on 1st week on Nov. I decided not to apply AP now and will be applying renewal in mid Nov. Applied only EAD renewal.
But my H1 extension approval is still pending. Not sure it will get approved by 1st week of Oct. If I happen to use the current AP do they give i-94 only till Jan 09 ( i.e my AP validity) or for 1 year ?

IV makes a public announcement of its advisory board today. These advisors have been associated with Immigrationvoice for quite some time and we have decided to make the names public after they gave us permission to make their information public.
Thanks to all the advisors - you have made us feel hopeful about this country! Thanks for laying it on the line for some faceless aliens - I promise that your support will bring a lot of returns to the USA as well as all of us!

with this tension i m jusst going to end up with piles. then paskal will have to look at my piles :(
Paskal is busy with schizophrenic members and members with obsessive compulsive disorder and with members who see hallucinations of reciept notices :D:D:D
Those who sign fedex in USCIS never thought their names willbe discussed on the internet

uuuhhh. I can atleast respond to the drink question! use your passport. that is valid proof of age. The law does not require everyone to have a drivers license. Driving is a privilage.......not a right. So, feel free to take your passport in as proof of age and enjoy the drinks :D
Well your temporary license is as good as ur old license. Does it have your picture and DOB..if so then take that along..passport should be avoided as long as not necessary(to prevent it from getting lost).

the fact that there were so many EAD applicants through June/July - the workload will be very high on USCIS so everyone will file at the earliest ie proposed 120 days prior to expiry.
Chandu,
When I called USCIS the IO officer said there are no visa number and it makes no sense in opening any SR and I have been told to wait at least until Oct 2008. She was bit rude but it made sense for me to wait for at least few more months before calling.
Good luck.

You are eligible to work as soon as you receive the receipt notice. So I don't see a big gap.

short answer...You are the chosen one you can do what ever you want, while USCIS will do what they think is right...IMHO plenty of legal trouble for you, your company and your lawyer. While you are at it why not ask companies C,D&E to sponsor parallel applications for you, the more the merrier....i think you are a troll...Hardworking, law abiding immigrats get a bad rap because of people like you.
So am still little confused... Should I go this route... The reason is the company who is willing to do my GC is doing also in good faith. But with the economy the way it shapes up... they are not sure, but as a good faith they did agree to start my GC process. Well I will be bearing the lawyer expenses...they would manage the mandatory fees. So they have very little to loose.
What do you guys suggest! I have heard many people who work with company A and GC is done by Company B ... ( Correct me if I am wrong here)
Appreciated

Two bills tackling this matter have recently been introduced. One is the Protect America's Competitive Edge Act, by Senators Pete V. Domenici, Republican of New Mexico; Jeff Bingaman, Democrat of New Mexico; Lamar Alexander, Republican of Tennessee; and Barbara A. Mikulski, Democrat of Maryland. A similar bill was introduced by Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, Democrat of Connecticut. Several of the senators met with President Bush in December to encourage him to support the competitiveness legislation.
Hello stucklabor,
This is very promising news. We knew about PACE but another similar bill by Senator Joseph I. Lieberman just adds to the excitement. We should keep a close eye on these bills and maybe start sending communications to the lawmakers about these bills.

Sorry Man I never posted a reply to the substituting for gradients. But your latter image was much better with image swap (instead of gradient). Doing your navigation in flash would be an excellent idea (instead of mapped images). I am thinking of writing a tut on how to make better gradients without using gradients....you think peeps would be interested? This technique has produced astounding results for me....I am trying to work on the grunge thing I jsu cannot produce anything cool....by the way me2 is very cool.

This is a small idea and let us see if it works.
We all help each other on the forum by answering questions. Let us answer questions of members of our community and politely request the person asking the question, if your answer helped him. If it helped him, the member can consider contributing to Immigrationvoice.
I think if all active members add this small note in their signatures, it may help us generate more funds to continue this effort. You can choose to modify this message to make it more appealing or create a link to the high five campaign that is currently running.
Suggestions are welcome.

Agreed. I registered already on change.gov.
I voted on this. But I did not see any vote for elimination of country qouta in EB immigration system. We need that topic on change.gov and should vote heavily in favour of it.

Sorry for replying to myself & bumping the thread, but I've got more information on my case and I'd like to share just in case anyone else will end up in a similar situation in the future.
I've tried to speak with an immigration attorney and with the flight school staff. The attorney initially told me there should not be any problems as long as I maintain my J-1 status by performing research full-time at the university; then he went on to check more carefully and became less convinced because full-load (> 18 hours a week) flight training requires a M-1 visa. I do not know if I should ask him to look deeper into the matter, as my situation will definitely not qualify as full load training (2-3 hours a week tops).
On the other hand, the flight school staff contacted TSA people and talked with the Department of State. The TSA told that they are OK with my training as long as I get the appropriate clearance, which I did; the Department of State (as I have already states) basically said that if I'm legally in the country and the TSA is cool with it then I can train. I've also come to understand that I will not attend any formal classes (I will self-study the theoretical notions required) and that my practical training will amount to 2-3 hours a week at most.
My understanding of the subject is that I would not be eligible for a M-1 visa, as in any case I will not be busy with flight training all the time. I also believe that were I to start flying this would not intefere with my J-1 status as long as I comply with all the requirements (i.e. work full-time on the project I've come to the US for, otherwise not work on or off-campus nor move to another university, etc.). Finally, from what I've heard, there seems to be no regulation against pursuing flight training for people that are already legally in the US if this does not constitue some sort of professional training, and flying light sport aircraft is what is more or less as far as it gets from professional flying.
If anyone (whether an attorney or otherwise) notes any fallacy in my reasoning please let me know -- I still have time to stop and reconsider before committing to anything that might undermine my legal presence here in the US.
Thank you everyone,
Pierluigi

Keep in mind the consequences of the new bill. Any I-140s filed after May 21 (or 15 depends where you are reading) will be invalidated. If I was you and my PD is current, I would take the risk and hang in there, get I-485 filed and bite the bullet for 6 months or 1 year (again depending on how the bill turns out)

why is there not an EB3 Philipenes with backlogs?
that would free up EB3 ROW and allow spillover
Clearly Philipenes has enough applicants to have backlog issues???

How come they have not posted the demand data for the Dec. bulliten? We need to make sure they post the information to prevent them from moving the date in consistent with their policy. Someone raised the question related to EB3 Mexco... one year vs. the rest 1 or 2 weeks. Mexico should have the slowest movement as its demand is very high based on the Nov. demand data. In addition, Mexico must have a lot of cases in the field office as they can't even predict its movement as indicated in the Dec. bulliten.
Bottom line... we need to closely monitor all the numbers... ideally reconcile them. Otherwise, their imcompetency and unethical behavior will mess up the bulliten again.

For an 'old school' recommendation, forget auto, firmware, default settings, etc. Switch to manual mode and play with the shutter/aperture yourself. It's more fun in the end!
