I was in the same situation recently for the State of Iowa. My attorney called up the DMV and explained the situation. The DMV informed him that they would need the receipt notice from the USCIS. The license will be issued for the lesser period of the time range (if any) mentioned in the Receipt Notice that the USCIS expects to take to decide the petition. Upon receipt of the approval, the person will need to go the DMV again with the I797A form and get a final license.
Fortunately, I did not get to jump through the hoops as I decided to spend some hard earned money and got my extension approved by premium processing. Anybody else who has done something similar please post.

often times i have noticed that the blissfully ignorant GC applicants come better off than rest of us- who act like chicken with the head cut off after every bad news!!! may be they dont worry too much and look at it from a whole another perspective...who knows...i wish i could be one of those, but i am too far in the game...damage is already done...:D

all though I have a permanent job and valid h1 till 2012, with i140 cleared. I am planning to move back to india. I am all supportive for this law suit.
I also wish to add a clause to add SSN and medicare to be returned back in this law suit.

I received my EAD last month. But no AP yet. However, i received an email from my lawyer today that.....my AP got rejected. The rejection letter is saying that I485 got approved that's why the I131 is rejected.....therefore, my lawyer is waiting for the I485 approval.....but my lawyer told me that I can expect my card soon.
I don't know how to react. The online doesn't have any update about the I485 status yet. They received my application on July 2, 2007.

not personal, addressing many issues.
1. if your company pays for everything, why such reluctance to put up a few more dollars for your own cause? think of those that pay for everything themselves and still contribute.
2. each contribution to paypal costs, they take a chunk off it. making small 10 buck contribution is really not the intelligent way to go.
3. there used to be a 20/mnth recurring contribution. now it does no exist. what do you want? should we throw out the original 20 buck guys? of course they can continue doing it. i can't imagine why it would put you off? btw we did not really lose any money by going to a minimum of 50- you know why? those who were serious still contributed. others who were whining at that time (why is there not a 10/mnth option) were in many (though not all) cases not going to contribute anyway. this is just fyi.
4. what is 50 bucks a month? step back and think sometime. a family meal/movie? do you indulge yourself occasionally worth 50 bucks?
i think in many cases the answer is yes. the money we need for lobbying ie very large....it's hard to make it form 20 bucks at a time when barely 5% of the membership contributes.
you have the choice hereof donating 100 now and considering it as two 50 buck donations, so your next one will be delayed. there are various ways of looking at this.
there are various ways to contribute, money is just one of them- although very important. if you have not done this, join a state chapter and start meeting lawmakers in your area. get friends to join iv. put up fliers and posters in local grocery stores/fairs and festivals etc. there are many good examples of these activities being done successfully. in the end it's going to matter is whether we put enough effort to push over the line- whether it's today or in 2 years.
we all have a choice. please make a wise one.

Yes it is at 1PM EST. Do you guys know if they are done with the horse bill? If they are done then it should just say 5882 and nurse bill. But schedule shows that they wil continue to work on horse bill as well...

How bad it can be for those with approved I-140?
Earlier it was 140K times 7% = 9800 with everybody and now it is 90K times 10% = 9000 with most of them gone into new merit based system.
I still don't get it?
Bad for retrogressed.... backlog will increase phenomenally 'cos of decreased visa numbers
This bill is a massive attack on us; we should put all our efforts to oppose and kill the bill. There is little chance that we can get amendments to reverse the potential damage that this bill can do... that is disaster for us.

There is one more option for you. H1 and L1 employees can go on long paid/unpaid leaves. If her company can support with document that she was on an unpaid leave for any reason (I do not know the reasons...make something) then there are chances that she will be able to change her status back to H4. All you have to prove that there was a good faith employee employer relationship for that particular duration. Talk to a lawyer, explain the situation..........every passing day is making your situation worse. Good Luck.

There will be no movement in May bulletin, but June bulletin will be Jan 1 2006 for EB2. I'm guessing this based on last 3 years, where there was no movement in May but had significant jump every June.

Is the use of EAD possible from 180 days after Receipt date or notice date ? I just crossed the 160 day mark, but I still dont have EAD. Can I use the requirement to use EAD(like a pending job offer) as a reason for Emergency to expedite my EAD, the uscis folks want some real reason to expedite the EAD application.

Thanks ilikekilo for the information. My husband medical coverage will start on the same day of his joining date. There is no waiting period. We need to find out what kind of healthcare plan they are providing and check whether my hospital and OB is under there network.

I have sold some items in eBay in the past, If I rememver correctly, when I sold something for $10 and the buyer made a paypal payment, paypal took $1.5 as fees.
So if you are making $20, only $17 goes to IV, IF the amount is >=50 I believe the fees is much lesser (like 5%) so more money goes to IV instead of making paypal rich.
